Taming the Wind

Hello, there everyone! This is DaiPenmon, the Area Leader of Meria! I'm sure some of you have already found out by now, but we're going to be changing our celebration in Meria over the season. Attached is details, but rest assured, the goal here is to make up for the void left by Hououmon's passing, and to remember him by going towards the future... while simultaneously paying homage to the digital world's own holiday celebrations, and the celebrations of all our offworlders!

We hope to see you all there, and hope that you have a marvelous time! The festival will be held from today through the first day of New Year's!

[another pause, and another sigh]

[a rustle, and something is set on the table]

I got you a present. Hopefully you'll get to open it on Christmas. If not... well... it'll still be there when you do...

[the comm goes silent again, for several minutes, before clicking off.]

Merry Christmas kids!

It's Lorne here with some holiday cheer for my favorite borders, employees and assorted freeloaders!

We'll be having a Christmas Eve party in the bar this year, a peaceful little get together after it closes at six. Dinner will be provided, feel free to exchange gifts. We'll have some Christmas classics playing on the big screen too.

To prepare for this I propose two shopping days. On Monday all the guys should go out and do whatever last minute shopping we have to do. I'll even treat us all to Mongolian BBQ and bowling how's that sound?

Then on Tuesday it's the girls turn for the same. I'll entrust Sarasim with the cash for dinner and the group activity of your choice.

This is my gift to you all, you've helped make this hotel a home so I want it to be as full of Christmas spirit as it can be without being claymation.

This honestly isn't likely to be an issue at all 'cos everyone'll be busy somehow anyway, but just in case: from tonight (the 20th) to the 26th I'm going to be at my mum's, which means I won't be on as often and maybe not much at all, although I'll still be able to log on the days before Christmas. If anything does happen, feel free to PM me at this or the relevant character journal; I'm more likely to get messages there than through AIM while I'm away.

Since Mimi's idea for a meetup kept falling through.

[Quick smile!]

I'd like to invite everyone from our world, the one with Belial Vamdemon - what did Ryo call it, Adventure-verse or something - to dinner at my place for Noche Buena; that is, Christmas Eve. [She looks a little more pensive.] It's a tradition in my family, dinner on Christmas Eve. It should be at midnight, really, but, you know, I've got little siblings, so we always had it earlier. Let's make it six.

[Patamon taps her shoulder.] Hey, what about--

[The look of suddenly remembering something.] Oh, yes! Hikaru asked if he could invite the Brainbreakers and their families along as well... So the invitation's extended to you too. Six o'clock, the twenty-fourth.

[She sounds a bit more decisive now.] Chosen, Brainbreakers, please let me know if you're coming by Tuesday so I know how much food to make.

[Patamon smirks.] I'm just glad we're not carolling. Always could've done without that particular tradition.

[Maria looks at Patamon.] Shhh. I would have done it if I had any musical aptitude, but as things are...

[They laugh at some in joke, then Maria reaches forward to turn the camera off.]

[humming. Just humming.]

... Nothing much. Just about last Christmas and how glad I am there's no talking mistletoe this year.

Oh, we remember them. We were actually thinking it's quiet without them.

Don't tempt fate, Draca, please. With the way luck runs here Yggdrasil will hear you and we'll have to put up with them again.

Merry Christmas everyone!

We've got something planned for this year, sort of reaffirming and reinventing the digital world's celebration of the holiday season. This year, we'll have a celebration called The Feast of Rebirth, starting on Monday, in Meria, running to New Year's Day.

We have several events planned, including:

Tree Decoration. A contest where your characters will get to work on decorating a tree as creatively and festively as possible. Once entries are closed, winner will be determined by a poll.

The epic awesome snowball fight. Just a big, long, snowball fight that anyone can join in for stupid, snowball throwing fun!

Digital world baking festival. A festival for people to bring and sell their goods.

Holiday Ball and Dance. A dance, which is pretty self explanatory. There will be a chance for anyone who wishes to to perform, as well. Please sign up if you'd like to do so.

There will also be a general holiday commons area for people to interact. Also, we're open to suggestions for events, and if you're suggesting some kind of contest, please include suggestions about how to run it. We may not be able to run all of them, so feel free to run your own!

Santa Claus.

Jolly fat man who delivers presents to all the good little boys and girls, or something more sinister?

I've been pondering this for awhile, and have come to a conclusion...

Santa is, in fact, an alien. No other creature on earth could live that long. OR TRAVEL THAT FAST. The presents and gifts are a facade, a ruse to lure us into a false sense of security, so that we turn away while his true intentions are put into motion.

Some may question whether or not he exists, but I am convinced he, in fact, travels the globe as a means of mapping it, and surveying things. Taking a look at various superpowers' defenses so that when the centuries of preparation is complete, they have an up-to-date assessment of our strengths and weaknesses when the invasion inevitably comes.

Sure, he might bring presents.

But at what cost? AT WHAT COST?!

Which, hey, nothing we have to worry about HERE, but I figured everyone deserves a fair warning. ^_^
